2011 and Beyond

The City Council of the City of Kimmswick, Missouri recognizes that achieving successful economic and community development requires a broad-based, community-wide, hands-on, participatory process of assessment, goal setting, planning, and implementation, all guided by a shared vision of the City’s future and the efficient and effective management of the environment, community, and economy for present and future generations.

As the City of Kimmswick ages and changes, residents and property owners seek to preserve the Historic small-town atmosphere that brought them here and keeps them here. The vision for the City of Kimmswick is to achieve long-term sustainability to assure that community living, recreation, small business, and cultural activities, can both blend and thrive without compromising community values and assets. Citizens and stakeholders want the City of Kimmswick to be a place where there is an open exchange of information among its residents, business owners and government; where local government is accessible, knowledgeable and fiscally responsible, while being attentive to the community’s needs for safety, city services, and management of appropriate growth and development.

Promote active citizen involvement and outreach education in development decisions and planning for Kimmswick’s future.

 

Develop a continual, forward-moving approach for city government, citizens, businesses, and community organizations to take action and create the desired vision of the City of Kimmswick.

 

Preserve and enhance Kimmswick’s unique vibrant character, stable residential neighborhoods, and mixed-use development in order to promote a strong and diverse economy.

 

Preserve the City’s historic resources while protecting environmentally sensitive areas in order to achieve long-term community sustainability, vitality, and livability.

 

Maintain existing park and other public facilities, while seeking opportunities to expand and enhance the current range of facilities, recreational programs, and cultural activities.

 

Develop an appropriate and adequate physical and governmental infrastructure to protect the city from natural disaster, preserve historic properties, and sustain community life and the health of small business.
